I partnered in an IT Consultancy for years with a guy who introduced me to the 3 Click rule for effective navigation. Basically the rule says that whether on your desktop or your website, important information should never be more than 3 clicks away and critical information should be in plain site or no more than 1 click away – like your phone number or contact information.
If you apply this rule to your website you’ll instantly improve the navigation and usability of your site and you should see a commensurate increase in the depth and breadth of user visits.
