The Long Tail Snipped

Read an article on 20 Internet Marketing Trends for 2009. Trend #18 said that the Long Tail (<–click this link for a definition), as championed by Wired Magazine Editor Chris Anderson, will be even more important to small business in the year ahead. Only problem is that Mr. Anderson has, himself, largely discredited the notion of the long tail, writing

I’ll end by conceding a point: It’s hard to make money in the Tail… the revenues are disproportionately in the Head. Perhaps that will never change.

The Register wrote about the study that derailed the long trail train in November 7, 2008 posting. If your strategy is built on the long tail and you are making money there, I’d like to hear about it. Please, leave a comment.
